I. Background


This project involved the sea freight export of large-scale equipment from China to Surabaya, Indonesia. The shipment consisted of a complete set of ore processing equipment and accessories, covering main machinery and numerous components.

1. Initial shipment included over 100 items.

2. After professional consolidation and organization, 81 items were declared for customs.

3. The heaviest single item exceeded 25 tons.

4. The cargo was stored across multiple locations in China.

This project required high-level expertise in transport planning, container loading, customs compliance, and on-site operational execution.


II. Challenges


1. Determining the appropriate container types and quantities for heavy machinery and components while ensuring transport safety posed a significant challenge.


2. Equipments were collected across multiple cities, requiring cross-regional transport to a consolidated warehouse with heavy-lift facilities for container loading.


3. Each item had to be inspected, weighed, and measured upon arrival at the warehouse, generating comprehensive data for client verification.


4. Due to the diversity and complexity of the equipment, the client was unfamiliar with HS Codes and declaration elements, making customs coordination challenging.


III. BSI Solutions


1.Customized Container Loading Plan

After measuring and verifying all cargo, the BSI team optimized the container loading plan through multiple iterations, ultimately using 2×40’ Flat Rack, 2×40’ High Cube, and 1×20’ GP containers, completing the shipment in a total of five containers.


2.Cross-Regional Pickup and Centralized Loading

Professional trucking teams were coordinated to collect cargo from multiple locations and consolidate it at a warehouse equipped with heavy-lift cranes to ensure safe loading of heavy equipment.


3.Standardized Inspection and Data Management

Each item was weighed, photographed, and measured. Any discrepancies between the inventory list and actual cargo were promptly addressed with the client, ensuring shipment accuracy.


4.Customs Declaration and Compliance Support

The BSI team independently handled HS Code classification and declaration element preparation, conducting multiple rounds of review and supplementation, achieving smooth customs clearance without any returns or inspections.
